Walk & Talk with Gabrielle #3 – “Gay Pride” vs. “Pride” – what do YOU call it and celebrate, and should still be called “Gay Pride”, or simply “Pride”?
During the very first Pride event I attended (just a handful of years ago), there was some controversy as it was promoted as “Gay Pride” in some outlets and “Roc Pride” (Roc = Rochester) in others. It turned out to be a miscommunication and was supposed to be “Roc Pride”, but it was hurtful to many, causing people to feel excluded and unwanted in the fallout. I think things are moving in the right direction (of inclusivity), and would really enjoy your take on things!
Video goofs
I accidentally said it’s June 11 in the video, but it was actually recorded on June 10… in case you’re big on date accuracy. I also mixed metaphors toward the end, mashing up “planting seeds” with “testing the water” to create the brand spanking new Gabi-ism: “seeding the water”. Another fine entry to the growing list! haha

My Cool Diverse Facebook page and a podcast in the works!
In an effort to reach more people, I recently created a Facebook page as a hub for the “walk and talk” videos and upcoming podcast. There’s only a few things to see there so far, but I’d be so grateful if you would check it out and give it some like-love! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The podcast isn’t quite ready for prime time just yet. The working title is “My Cool Diverse Life”, which should sound familiar. I want to draw attention to the many incredible gifts waiting to be discovered in the exploration of human diversity and path to self-empowerment. The plan is to use my experiences as a transgender woman, living in a world that doesn’t quite understand what “transgender” means, sharing what I’ve learned about meeting life’s challenges, overcoming adversity and growing stronger in the process. Interviews with experts and people who have inspirational stories to share are a big part of the plan. More on that later…
For now, please chime in with your take on “Gay Pride” vs. the more inclusive “Pride”. Thank you for watching, reading, and sharing your thoughts!
Namaste
